Social Skills training for all ages
Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 8:27PM If parents of children with Autism know anything, they know that social skills deficits impact every aspect of their child's life. Social communication is something that many learn intuitively and that most of us take for granted. Social skills training seems easiest to conduct and arrange when children are young, pre-school and elementary school, but as children grow, they encounter new social challenges. The challenge for parents is locating an organization that provides social skills groups and training for adolescents and young adults.
Speech Connections Seacoast, in Portsmouth NH offers social skills groups for adolescents and young adults. Jocelyn Lister, MA/CCC-SLP brings a wealth of experience to this endeavor. Speech Connections Bedford offers social skills groups co-facilitated with Heather Adams MA/CCC-SLP. It is wonderful to see a well needed service offered by such experienced clinicians.
