Preparation for Parent Teacher Conference…

School has just begun, but before you know it mid-term progress reports will arrive and Parent Teacher Conferences will be scheduled.

As the parent of a child with disabilities, you know the value of preparation.  How your child is progressing in the regular education classroom is very important.  Although not part of the special education process, the information you give and get during the parent teacher conferences can inform the decisions that are made during the special education process.

Parent teacher conferences are designed to be snapshots of how your child performs in the regular education setting.  They are also designed to be short and concise.  The more focused you are, the better you will be able to learn how your child is doing in the regular education setting.

For more guidance on preparing for the Parent Teacher Conference, read Making the Most of Your Parent-Teacher Conference and use the Parent Planning Form.
